Town of Pocola faces fines for failure to pay IRS

The Town of Pocola may be forced to pay more than $8,000 to the IRS after backlogged bookkeeping.

The Town of Pocola may find themselves owing the Internal Revenue Service more than $8,000 for unpaid back taxes.
According to Town Clerk John Limbocker, the problem occurred when the previous Deputy Clerk, Sally Deselms, failed to keep her records up to date. Limbocker said the problem has since been solved after Deselms was replaced six weeks ago with Amanda Goldsmith.
According to Limbocker, $8,200 is the financial burden the town may have to pay in interest after being fined and penalized for failure to pay taxes.
Limbocker said the town is in the process of having the penalties and fines waived.
