LEFLORE — The 2014 fall season got going in fine fashion for the Leflore Savages baseball team as the locals routed the Battiest Panthers 15-4 in a game stopped by run rule in the fourth inning.
Trailing 3-0 in the first inning, the Savages scored three runs in the first inning to tie the game, then added a single run in the second and three runs in the third for a 7-3 lead after three innings.
Leflore’s eight-run fourth inning ended the game by run rule.
Howe 10, McCurtain 2: In McCurtain, the Lions got their first win of the season after losing 17-7 to Buffalo Valley in Monday’s opener.
The Lions scored four runs in the opening inning and a single run in the third for a 5-0 lead and were never headed.
Clayton 13, Whitesboro 2: In Whitesboro, the Bulldogs from Pushmataha County spoiled the season opener for the locals.
Editor’s note: Cameron’s road game at Crowder got canceled, with no make-up date scheduled.
