HOWE â€” After graduation hit the Howe Lady Lions hard, not many prognosticators were planning on much from them this season. The Lady Lions said not so fast.
While they may have been dethroned as county champions, they did win the regular-season title of the Green Valley Conference with a 71-26 rout of the McCurtain Lady Bulldogs.
Howeâ€™s win, coupled with Panamaâ€™s 61-50 loss to Arkoma, gave the outright conference title to the Lady Lions.
Howe jumped to a 24-9 lead after a period and never looked back.
Arkoma 61, Panama 50: In Arkoma, down 48-47 with 90 seconds left to play, the Lady Mustangs outscored the Lady Razorbacks 14-2 to snatch the come-from-behind win.
Wister 34, Cameron 32: In Wister, trailing 15-11 at halftime, the Lady Wildcats outscored the Lady Yellowjackets 15-8 in the third quarter to take a 26-23 lead into the final period.
Talihina 58, Heavener 53: In Talihina, after falling behind 17-7 after a period, the Lady Golden Tigers outscored the Lady Wolves 51-36 the rest of the way to get the come-from-behind win.
Pocola 56, Stigler 51: in Stigler, with the game tied at 47-all with 1:50 left, the Lady Indians outscored the Lady Panthers 9-4 to end the game to get the win.
Keota 48, Bokoshe 42: In Keota, the Lady Tigers fell behind 21-7 after a period and never got the lead.
However, they cut Keotaâ€™s lead to 34-32 in the early stages of the final quarter, but they never tied or took the lead.
Bokoshe hurt itself on the free-throw line, hitting only 7 of 18 â€” as compared to Keotaâ€™s 14 of 18 from the charity stripe.
