STIGLER — The Poteau Pirates baseball team made it 2-for-2 to begin the season as it picked up a 7-3 road win over the Stigler Panthers on Monday afternoon.
The Pirates scored once in the first inning and twice in each of the third and fourth innings for a 5-0 lead.
After the Panthers cut the deficit to 5-3 after five innings, the Pirates got two runs in the sixth inning to seal the deal.
Wister 4, Heavener 1: In Heavener, the Wildcats opened the season with a victory, thanks to a seventh-inning rally.
With the game tied at 1, Corey Bullard's RBI single and Jesse Hammons' two-RBI single in the seventh inning broke the tie.
Howe 16, Keota 11: In Howe, the Lions won their season opener, due in part to two big innings.
Down 9-5 in the third inning, the Lions scored eight runs in third inning and three runs in the fourth to take a 16-9 lead into the fifth inning.
Panama 12, Hartford, Ark., 3: In Panama, trailing 2-0 in the first inning, the Razorbacks, who won their first game of the season, scored three runs in their half of the inning to take a 3-2 lead. The Hogs would not trail again.
Leflore 12, Kinta 3: In Kinta, the Savages were successful in their opener as they had a four-run fourth inning to break a 3-all tie.
Muldrow 15, Cameron 1: In Cameron, the Bulldogs took control of the game early, scoring three runs in the first inning, six runs in the second and five in the third for a 14-0 lead.
