HARTSHORNE — The Wister Wildcats got their first victory of the basketball season Tuesday night, edging the Oktaha Tigers 47-43 in the opening round of the Pick and Shovel Classic.
The ’Cats were slated to play Antlers on Wednesday night in the championship semifinals.
Pocola 58, Stigler 44: In Stigler, the Indians got their season off to a good start with a comeback win.
Trailing 10-9 after a period, the Indians outscored the Panthers 19-16 in the second quarter to take a 28-26 lead at halftime. Then, Pocola outscored Stigler 30-18 in the second half.
Keota 69, Panama 49: In Panama, the Lions jumped out to a 14-6 lead after a period and never lost their advantage.
Western Yell County, Ark., 76, Heavener 69, OT: In Gary Ford Invitational in Hartford, Ark., the Wolves were outscored 11-4 in overtime en route to the opening-round loss.
