HEAVENER — The Heavener Wolves won for the second straight game as they knocked off county rival Wister 54-35 in the latest battle for U.S. Highway 270 supremacy.
The Wolves jumped out to a 14-9 lead after one period and slowly increased their lead from there. Heavener led 28-17 at halftime and took a 43-27 lead into the final quarter.
Arkoma 64, Panama 47: In Arkoma, the Mustangs, who led 18-12 after a quarter, put the game away with a 16-4 second period to take a 34-16 lead at halftime.
Pocola 50, Wilburton 37: In Wilburton, leading 10-9 after a period and 18-17 at halftime, the Indians broke open the game with a 12-4 third quarter to take a 30-21 lead into the final period.
Spiro 68, Sallisaw 46: In Sallisaw, the Bulldogs jumped out to leads of 7-1 and 14-3 en route to the conference-opening victory.
Kinta 62, Bokoshe 52: In Bokoshe, the Tigers played one of their best games in nearly four years, according to assistant coach Bryan Murray. Bokoshe actually led at halftime by a point at 23-22.
However, the Eagles outscored the Tigers 40-29 in the second half and hit free throws down the stretch to keep the Tigers from getting their first win of the season.
