HEAVENER — The Heavener Wolves avenged their December loss to the Pocola Indians Tuesday night at the Heavener Gym, and did so in a big way.
Thanks to a strong second period, the Wolves ended up handing the Indians a 61-42 loss.
The Wolves (9-11), winners of two straight in as many nights, jumped out to an 11-2 lead after one period.
The Indians (15-4) cut the deficit to 13-11 in the early stages of the second quarter, but Heavener outscored Pocola 17-2 the rest of the period to take a 30-13 lead into the locker rooms at halftime.
Spiro 53, Sallisaw 50: In Sallisaw, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 16-11 lead after one period and pretty much kept the Black Diamonds at bay the rest of the way.
Talihina 81, Hartshorne 27: In Hartshorne, the Golden Tigers had a 22-14 lead after one period, but then outscored the Miners 18-4 in the second quarter for a 40-18 halftime lead.
