PANAMA — The Panama Lady Razorbacks defeated the Arkoma Lady Mustangs for the second time in less than a week Tuesday night, posting a 45-41 victory at the Panama Gym
Trailing 36-33 after three periods, the Lady Razorbacks, who beat the Lady Mustangs in the championship semifinals of the Green Valley Conference Tournament on Thursday night, outscored them 12-5 in the final period to get the win.
Hannah Goines' free throws with 6:39 left in the game gave Panama a 37-36 lead, which the Lady ’Backs would not relinquish.
However, the Lady Mustangs still had a shot to tie the game and force overtime, but Kelsi Johnson's attempt banged off the rim with seven seconds left — leaving Panama ahead 43-41.
Panama's Brittnie Brassfield was then fouled with four seconds left, and the Lady Razorback freshman calmly sank both free throws to seal the deal.
Bokoshe 63, Keota 50: In Bokoshe, the Lady Tigers, who had not played since winning third place at the Eastern Oklahoma State College Classic on Dec. 8, came out flat, falling behind 15-2 to the Lady Lions after a period.
However, from there, the Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Lions 61-35 to earn the come-from-behind victory.
Talihina 31, Antlers 28: The Lady Golden Tigers avenged their only loss, which came to the Lady Bearcats in overtime in the semifinals of the Choctaw Nation Tournament on Dec. 7. Down 6-4 in the second quarter, Talihina outscored Antlers 8-4 the rest of the period to take a 12-10 halftime lead. Then, the Lady Golden Tigers outscored the Lady Bearcats 19-18 in the second half, with Tara Hawkins hitting 3-of-4 free throws down the stretch to seal the deal.
Whitesboro 39, Clayton 23: In Clayton, the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to an 11-2 lead after the first eight minutes of action and never lost their lead.
Hartshorne 48, Heavener 45, OT: In Heavener, the Lady Miners spoiled homecoming for the Lady Wolves.
Hartshorne's Rachel Baker scored on a follow shot to tie the game at 41-all and send it into regulation.
Then, Hartshorne's Caitlan Allen stole the ball near midcourt, drove for and made a layup and was fouled with six-tenths of a second remaining. She then hit the free throw to seal the deal.
Wilburton 46, Pocola 25: In Pocola, the Lady Indians had an 11-10 lead after one period, but then cold shooting struck them as they only scored six points over the next two quarters as the Lady Diggers took a 33-17 lead into the final period.
