HEAVENER — A late fourth-quarter spurt by the Spiro Lady Bulldogs enabled them to pull away for a 46-33 victory over the Heavener Lady Wolves Tuesday night at the Heavener Gym.
Howe 72, Wister 39: In Wister, the Lady Lions made sure there was not going to be a hangover after winning the 2012 LeFlore County Tournament Saturday night. They jumped out to a 24-2 lead after one period over the Lady Wildcats.
Talihina 68, Hartshorne 45: In Talihina, the Lady Golden Tigers bounced back from a tough LeFlore County Tournament title game loss to Howe Saturday night in a big way — namely the 3-point way. All total, the Lady Golden Tigers, who forced 25 Hartshorne turnovers on defense, hit nine 3s — three each from Chelsea Baggs and Krissy Houston.
The Lady Golden Tigers will celebrate homecoming with an 8 p.m. Friday contest with Stigler. There will not be a girls' junior varsity game since the Lady Panthers do not have a JV team.
Keota 52, Cameron 27: In Keota, the Lady Lions doubled up the Lady Yellowjackets in the first quarter 12-6, and then doubled them 14-7 in the second period for a 26-13 halftime lead.
Panola 52, Whitesboro 35: In Panola, a free throw apiece by Taylor Bowers and Ashalee Nunley gave the Lady Bulldogs a 2-0 lead in the opening period. From there, it was all Lady Bearcats. Panola led 9-4 after one period, 20-13 at halftime and 44-27 going into the final quarter.
