FORT GIBSON — After a rough road doubleheader loss against Tahlequah on Monday, the Poteau Lady Pirates took their frustrations out on the Fort Gibson Lady Tigers on Tuesday as they rallied for a 9-7 victory.
Down 2-1 after an inning, the Lady Pirates erupted for six runs in the fourth inning to take a 7-2 lead after four innings.
Leading 9-4 in the seventh inning, the Lady Pirates withstood a three-run rally by the Lady Tigers to hang on for the road victory.
Tahlequah 16, Panama 6; Vian 10, Panama 0: In Panama, it was a rough day for the Lady Razorbacks.
About the only positive thing that happened was Hannah Goines' three-run home run in the first inning against Tahlequah to put the Lady ’Backs ahead 3-0. However, from there it was all Lady Tigers.
Against Vian, Panama had only two hits, a single apiece from Swindle and Stephanie Barcheers.
Editor's note: Talihina's game against Keota was canceled due to lack of players, which will also prevent the Lady Golden Tigers from playing in today's Class 4A District Tournament. Thus, their season is over.
