Tuesday's High School Softball Roundup

March 6, 2013

HEAVENER — The Heavener Lady Wolves got their second win of the season as they routed the Battiest Lady Panthers 12-0 Tuesday afternoon in their home opener.
The home action was to have been a three-way with Sallisaw, but its coach was taken earlier in the day by ambulance from Sallisaw High School to a local hospital. Thus, the Lady Black Diamonds did not participate.
Clayton 14, Whitesboro 12: In Whitesboro, in a battle of Lady Bulldogs, Clayton outlasted Whitesboro.
Buffalo Valley 9, Howe 5: In Buffalo Valley, the Lady Buffaloes scored three runs in the opening inning, then added six runs in the second for a 9-0 lead.
After the Lady Lions scored once in the fourth inning, they stranded five runners on base over the next two innings — including the bases loaded in the sixth inning.
That proved fatal for the Lady Lions because Courtney Brown hit a three-run home run, her first homer of the season, in the seventh inning.
Editor's Note — Thursday's Pocola season-opening three-way with Stilwell at Sallisaw has been canceled. No make-up date has been set. The Lady Indians will open their season at 5 p.m. Monday on the road against Keota.
