Tuesday's High School Softball Roundup

April 24, 2014

POCOLA — Tuesday was a good day of softball for the Poteau Lady Pirates as they got two road wins in a three-way, rallying past the homestanding Pocola Lady Indians 4-3 after seeing pitcher Jordyn Gotes no-hit the Sallisaw Lady Black Diamonds in an 8-0 victory.
The Lady Indians blanked the Lady Black Diamonds 2-0 in Tuesday's first game on pitcher Brooklyn Morton's no-hitter.
Spiro 3, Panama 2: In Panama, the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening inning, then added a run in the third for a 3-0 advantage.
The Lady Razorbacks cut the deficit to 3-2 in the fourth inning, but did not get any closer.
Wister 14, Keota 0: In Keota, the Lady Wildcats scored twice in the first inning, then had two six-run innings in the second and third innings to put the game into run-rule status.
Tahlequah 12, Heavener 2; Muskogee 9, Heavener 4: In Muskogee, the Lady Wolves suffered their second and third losses of the season in Tuesday's three-way.
In the loss to Tahlequah, the Lady Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 lead after an inning, but the Lady Wolves cut the deficit to 4-2 in the second inning on Kendra Davis' solo home run and a Tahlequah error but got no closer.
In the loss to Muskogee, the Lady Roughers rallied from a 2-1 deficit with a three-run third inning to take a 4-2 lead after three innings.
Heavener cut the deficit to 4-3 in the fourth inning but got no closer.
Buffalo Valley 10, Howe 6; Buffalo Valley 5, Howe 0: In Buffalo Valley, the Lady Lions ended their regular season with a pair of losses.
In the opener, the Lady Buffaloes, who trailed 6-0 after the first inning, scored twice in the fourth inning and eight runs in the fifth to take a 10-6 lead after five innings.
In the nightcap, the Lady Buffs scored once in the first inning, then added a pair of two-run innings in the fifth and sixth innings.
Editor's note: Whitesboro's three-way with Eagletown and Panola did not take place because the Lady Eagles were in their Class 2A District Tournament on Tuesday, while the Lady Bearcats forfeited out due to lack of numbers. Nothing was reported on Talihina's game at Quinton by press time. Also, look for the story about the Class 2A District Tournament involving Arkoma and Cameron in a later edition.
