Tuesday's High School Softball Roundup

March 8, 2012

SALLISAW — The Poteau Lady Pirates made it 2-for-2 to start the season as they run ruled the Sallisaw Lady Black Diamonds 17-5 Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Pirates scored twice in the first inning and six runs in the second inning for an 8-0 lead. Most of the Poteau runs were unearned due to Sallisaw miscues.
Shelby Standridge scored four runs, Natalee King and Meagan Ryburn three runs apiece and two runs scored each by Kylie Brown, Brenna Vise and Montana Roll. Sidnee Ward scored the other run.
Cameron 10, Arkoma 0: In Cameron, the Lady Yellowjackets made it two straight wins to begin the season.
The Lady ’Jackets scored four runs in the first inning, then three runs in each the second and third innings for a 10-0 lead.
Heavener 20, Smithville 0: In Smithville, Heavener pitcher Amber Holt threw a two-hit shutout.
The Lady Wolves put the game away early with an 11-run first inning.
Panama 25, Sallisaw-Central 16: In Sallisaw, the Lady Razorbacks used a two-out, 12-run rally in the fourth inning to overcome an eight-run defecit.
Wister 12, Keota 2: In Keota, a six-run fourth inning broke a 2-2 tie to enable the Lady Wildcats to get the win, and bounce back from Monday afternoon's heartbreaking loss to Cameron.
Roland def. Spiro: In Spiro, the Lady Bulldogs scored only one run, that by Tiffany Woods on Braylin Gray's RBI, as the visiting Lady Rangers run ruled the Lady Bulldogs in four innings.
Editor's Note — Leflore's game at Panola was treated as a scrimmage, and the Lady Savages will entertain Arkoma this afternoon. Today's game was originally a road game for Leflore, but Arkoma's field is being used by the Mustangs' baseball team.
