Turkey season nearing; fish are starting to bite

March 7, 2013

Turkey season is a month away out west, and six weeks away here in southeast Oklahoma. I am going to head down to Ardmore to see my cousin, Jason Sampson, for opening weekend and try to kill me a Rio Grande turkey.
I am getting ready to start practicing up with my turkey calls that I got from Jay Neugin a couple of years back. I am hearing some people talk about scouting and seeing some birds strutting already.
When the eastern season opens up, I am going to join Dan Carter and Butch Parks down at my lease near Clayton for a camping trip to chase some birds around the mountains.
This year, I am going to try extra hard to get Koby his first gobbler. If he doesn’t connect at Jason’s house, I will take him out on the youth hunt. Hopefully, we can get him one so I can get after them myself.
Have a great week!
