For fans of pitchers, the first elimination game of Thursday afternoon's slate of action in the 2011 OK Kids Midget State Tournament at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex was to their liking.
The contest between the Tushka Tigers and the Kingfisher ’Jackets was indeed a pitcher's duel — although there were three pitchers involved.
Tushka's duo of Connor Sutton and Tyler Frank outdueled Kingfisher's starter Matt Hopkins and pitched the Tigers into tonight's loser's-bracket semifinal with a 2-0 victory.
The Tigers (35-19) will play the Weatherford Red at 6 p.m. tonight with the winner playing the Thursday night late-game loser between the Durant Rangers and the Holdenville Outlaws at 8 p.m. tonight in the loser's-bracket final.
The season ends for the ’Jackets (46-11).
