Two bond elections Tuesday

September 12, 2011

Tuesday, September 13
from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
there will be a Special
School Bond Election for
Monroe, Shady Point, and
Red Oak Schools.
Secretary of the LeFlore
County Election Board,
Phillip Zearley, offered
tips to voters on how to
make their voice heard.
Zearley stated that following
the marking
instructions posted at the
polling place and inside
the voting booths is essential.

in marking a ballot, voters
should not try and correct
the error, but should
instead return the ballot to
poll workers for destruction.
A new ballot will be
issued to the voter by the
Precinct Officials.
Zearley also urged voters
to carry identification
to the polls.
“You voter identification
card can help Precinct
Officials find your name
in the Precinct Registry
and it may also help them
resolve the problem if you
are not listed in the
Precinct Registry.”
If a voter’s name is not
found in the registry, or if
a voter disagrees with the
information shown in the
registry, he or she may
need to cast a provisional
ballot. Provisional ballots
are sealed in special envelopes
and counted after
election day, but only if
the voter’s information
can be verified by the
County Election Board.
To get through the line
quickly on election day,
Zearley suggests that voters
time their voting for
mid-morning or mid-afternoon,
the two periods during
the day with the least
amount of voters visiting
the polls.
“Anyone who is eligible
and in line at the polling
place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday
will be entitled to vite,” he
