Two men arrested Monday after car chase

December 24, 2012

Thomas Marvin Skinner, 28, of Spiro, center, was arrested Monday afternoon after he led police on a car chase then a foot pursuit.

Poteau police officers arrested two fleeing suspects Monday afternoon suspected of burglarizing a Poteau residence earlier that morning.
According to Poteau Chief of Police Stephen Fruen, Detective Mark Kannady was driving on North Broadway about 1:45 p.m. when he spotted red extended-cab Ford Ranger pickup matching the description of a truck at a burglary Monday morning. When Kannady attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver of the truck turned onto Oklahoma Avenue and sped away.
The driver, later identified by police as Thomas Skinner, 28, of Spiro, led police through several residential streets until he stopped on Hamilton Street and ran from the vehicle.
According to Fruen, Skinner's passenger, later identified as Samuel Allen Jackson, 26, of Panama, left the car and attempted to run away also but was quickly caught. Officers searched the area and found Skinner hiding underneath the dilapidated frame of a trailer.
Fruen said both men were arrested and booked into jail and are expected to face multiple charges.
