UPDATED: Poteau girls knock off 6A's Tulsa Union, Edmond Santa Fe in Broken Arrow Tournament; Lady Pirates beat Haskell, Glenpool before rain washes out event

August 18, 2012

BROKEN ARROW — Two big wins against Class 6A school got the Poteau Lady Pirates off to a good start on the right track Friday in the Broken Arrow Tournament.
The Lady Pirates (8-0) remained unbeaten after victories of 4-1 against Tulsa Union and 1-0 over Edmond Santa Fe.
“I’m pretty proud of them,” said Misty Collins, Poteau's coach. “We’ve done well around our area, so it’s good to see them come up here and play with these bigger schools, too. We got to keep it up, though.”
The Lady Pirates played early Friday night against Haskell and won 9-1, then rallied past Glenpool for a 3-1 win Saturday morning.
However, rain moved through later on the day and washed out their Yukon game and their final game for placing in the tournament. Those games likely will not be rescheduled.
