UPDATED: Rain changes Poteau Wood Bat Festival start to Thursday, with new schedule

March 21, 2012

Mother Nature's wrath has already been felt. Due to rain showers Tuesday and today, the 2012 Poteau Wood Bat Festival will not begin until Thursday and end on Saturday.
Besides the host Pirates, several other LeFlore County teams will be in the field — Cameron, Heavener and Panama.
Other familiar teams in the field are Roland, Muldrow, Sallisaw-Central, Stigler, Hartshorne and Fort Smith (Ark.) Northside. A new team coming is Dickson, which is located just east of Ardmore. Dickson Athletic Director David Gardner and Poteau Baseball Coach Ronnie Sockey were college teammates back in the day.
