FORT SMITH, Ark. — If a team wants to win a game, it cannot give extra chances to the opposition. Unfortunately, that's what happened to the Eastern Oklahoma Riverdawgs Major American Legion baseball team Saturday night at Hunts Park.
A two-out dropped fly ball in the second inning opened the floodgates, which was taken advantage of by Kerwins. Kerwins scored five unearned runs in that frame en route to an 11-0 four-inning, run-rule win in the title game of the Maurice Katzer Tournament.
The Riverdawgs reached the title game with a 12-2, four-inning, run-rule victory over Midwest Friday afternoon.
The Riversdawgs' home opener did not take place Sunday in Pocola as scheduled as Bartlesville did not show up. They will try to have their home opener at 5 p.m. today in Cameron in a doubleheader against Three Rivers. Then, the locals will play a single, nine-inning game at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Okmulgee.
