Veda Pearl (Oglesby) Davis
Veda Pearl (Oglesby) Davis, 82, of Poteau died Saturday, July 12, 2014, in Poteau. Veda was born Nov. 22, 1931, in Hontubby to Jim and Offie (McKinney) Oglesby. She was an LPN. Veda was of the Baptist faith. Veda was a member of the Texas Association of Nurses and The Rebekahs. She was married to Boyce Dean Davis of Hontubby in Fresno, Calif., in 1947. They settled in Midland, Texas, in 1951 working and raising their family in Midland. Veda worked at Midland Memorial Hospital and managed a large apartment complex and a local retail store. Her joys were her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild. Holidays were her favorite times of the year and were always a big production and decorations were grand.Her homemade desserts, turkey and dressing, chicken and dumplings were some of her favorites. The name “Momo” will be remembered by not only her family but also by those who knew her and loved her.She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Danny D. Davis; granddaughter, Shawna Graham; and all her siblings.Survivors include her children, Sandra (Davis) and J.D. Hanson of Midland, Allen Davis, and Teresa (Davis) and Lucky Graham of Poteau; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; other relatives, loved ones and friends. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 17, in Evans Chapel of Memories with Stephanie Davis-Reed officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau. Pallbearers will be Jose Chavez, Derek Chavez, Jace Morris, Billy Potter, Tyler Collier and Brian Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Mason Crenshaw and Fernando Gutierrez.The family will visit with relatives and friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Evans and Miller Funeral Home.
