Vertie Novelia Warrick

Vertie Novelia Warrick, 92, of Poteau died Sunday, July 14, 2013, in Poteau.
Novelia was born July 4, 1921, in Post, Texas, to Charles and Ruby Dodson. She had two brothers and one sister. She married Leighton Stephens and had twin daughters, Leta McCroskey of Poteau and Rita Cooper of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and one son, Charles Stephens of Scapoose, Ore. On August 4, 1956, Novelia married John Warrick and the family was expanded by John’s six sons. The family also had many wonderful pets throughout the years. Novi was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted and loving mother and provided her family with strength and wisdom and many loving memories. She worked as a secretary and homemaker in California and in 1983, after John passed away, she moved to Poteau. Novi was loved and appreciated by her family and will be greatly missed.
Survivoris include her daughter, Rita Cooper; son, Charles Stephens; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at the Oakland Cemetery Pavilion with the Rev. Phil McGehee officiating.
