Community members came together Tuesday to ensure a final resting place for an area veteran who died recently.
Bill Sanders, pastor of Greenhill Church in Cameron, took on the task of fundraising when he learned that the family of Army veteran James Webb was unable to pay a Siloam Springs funeral home and Webb’s body remained at the business.
An Indian taco sale in the Poteau Daily News parking lot Tuesday — plus numerous cash donations — raised about $1,500. Sanders said that would be enough to pay the cremation expenses and purchase a headstone for Webb.
