Vian handles Talihina in final football scrimmage of preseason

August 28, 2012

VIAN — The Talihina Golden Tigers traveled to Vian for their final preseason football scrimmage of the season, and came away one positive. They don't have to play the Wolverines in the district anymore.
The Wolverines returned a senior-dominated team of 40 players from last year's team which lost to eventual Class 2A state champion Hennessey in the state quarterfinals. Five of those seniors are being looked at by Division I colleges, and the Wolverines have a talented group of juniors and sophomores to go with them.
The Golden Tigers started Friday night's scrimmage on offense and moved 20 yards before being forced to punt to the Wolverines.
On the third play, Vian sophomore Eric Casey got behind the defense and scored on a 60-yard touchdown pass play. That was as close as the Golden Tigers got on the night.
