More than 300 meals were served on Thanksgiving Day during the Community Thanksgiving Meal in Poteau. People of all ages stopped in between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to enjoy the traditional turkey dinner and fellowship. Above left, Geraldine Hebert of Poteau stopped in to eat and visit. Above right, Jim Berngen (standing) talks with a Poteau couple who came to the dinner. This event could not be possible without the generosities of the community including the businesses and individuals who donated food, funds and time to make this annual event a success. Plans are to serve a Christmas dinner on Christmas Day this year, as well. The dinners are served at the Bob Lee Kidd Civic Center in Poteau and rely solely on donations and volunteers. Berngen, organizer for the events, would like to thank all those responsible for this year's success.
