Life with Laura Ann
Tuesday, 10 March 2009
Well, everything finally came together for Poteau High School's production of "Grease."  Those last few days of putting everything together was pure chaos, but we worked together and finished everything in time for opening night.  We came so far from where we started, and it was amazing to finally be able to have such a great payoff for all of our hard work.

I've mentioned this before, but this was my first time to have a lead role in a musical which has been one of the most fun experiences.  Playing Sandy was great.  I loved all of the songs, and I loved being able to portray someone who has a lot of the same characteristics as me, and then changing into the complete opposite of me all in one show.  I think it's a lot tougher to play a character that you have a lot in common with.  You don't really have to act which was the difficult part for me.
Another thing that was pretty difficult was pulling off the character when I only got it two and a half weeks before opening night.  I knew when our director asked me to step in, that I had taken on a huge responsibilty, and it was.
I lived and breathed that musical for two and a half weeks and I'm still singing the songs in my sleep.  I really didn't mind all the work.  It didn't feel like work at all actually.  I had a great time doing it, and I was thrilled to have the oppurtunity.
I couldn't have done it without all of the strong support I had from the cast and my family.  They helped me with everything from choreography, to lines, music, costumes, and just encouragement when I didn't think I could go anymore.  They got me through it all.  Thanks to all of you who were so great at keeping me motivated and making this such a fun experience.  Also, thanks for putting up with me and my crazy self over the past few weeks.  I couldn't have done it without you.  I'm really sad that it's over, but there will be more shows coming up soon.
Later,
Laura Ann

Something to Ponder: Why do they put braille on the key pads at drive through atm's and car washes?
