Two LeFlore County communities are mourning the loss of two adults and two children following a quadruple fatality crash early Thursday evening.
According to the report filed by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 6:39 p.m. one-half mile north of Howe on U.S. Highway 59.
Jaime Benson, 32, and her 10-year-old daughter, Andrea Benson, both of Heavener,  expired at the scene from massive injuries. Benson's 11-month-old daughter, Lindsey Morrison, expired at Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau.
Brian Dailey, 21, of Howe, expired at the scene from massive injuries.
The report states that the 1990 Mazda truck driven by Dailey was southbound and went left of center striking the 2002 Pontiac van driven by Jaime Benson, head-on. Jaime Benson was pinned in her vehicle for approximately one and one-half hours.
A passenger in the van, Nicholas Morrison, 28, of Heavener, was pinned approximately 20 minutes before being extricated by the Heavener Fire Department Rescue Unit and transported to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark., with head, arm, leg, trunk internal and trunk external injuries. At press time he was listed in critical condition.
Another passenger in the van, two-year-old Baylee Morrison, was transported by Emergency Medical Services of LeFlore County to Sparks Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released.
The report, completed by Trooper Fernando Cardenas, states that seat belts and child restraints were in use by all persons in the van and the airbag did deploy at the time of the accident. The seat belt was not in use in the pick up.
Complete obituaries for each of the victims are included on page 5A.
