'It only takes a minute...'
Tuesday, 07 April 2009
LeFlore County Health Department has once again launched a community public awareness campaign in observance of April being Child Abuse Prevention Month.  This year’s theme repeats last year’s theme “It Only Takes a Minute to Make a Difference in the Life of a Child.”  Child Abuse Prevention has been observed each April since the first presidential proclamation in 1985.
All citizens in LeFlore County should focus on the positive actions that each of us can take to help raise safe, healthy, resilient children.

Statewide, local child Abuse Prevention Com-mittees will gather for “Child Abuse Prevention Day” at the State Capitol on Tuesday, April 14, which will feature speakers, booths, a blue ribbon tree, and an art poster contest recognizing winners grades K-12 from around Oklahoma.
LeFlore County Health Department employees have scheduled activities in observance of Child Abuse Prevention Month.  On April 13 the Children First Nurses will be at Shady Point School and April 15 at Monroe School.  On April 14 (Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Day), at 10 a.m., health department employees will sponsor a Child Abuse Awareness walk from the health department to the LeFlore County Courthouse.  The public and other agencies are invited to participate.
After returning, blue ribbons will be placed on a tree in front of the LeFlore County Health Department.
Just remember, “It only takes a minute to make a difference in the life of a child”.
For more information call LeFlore County Health Department at 647-8601.
