Grace Cottage Crisis Pregnancy Center in Poteau presented the board of directors of Central National Bank with a special thank you award for their support and donations totaling $48,000 toward the purchase of the home on Witte Street where the pregnancy center is located. Grace Cottage serves pregnant teenage girls from throughout the state. There are six beds available. The cottage is currently serving two girls. The facility has been open since 2002 and has served 56 young women and their unborn children in the home. Grace Cottage continues to give the young girls the things they need when they leave with an exception of a place to live. They also provide baby needs to other young girls. Nancy Putman, Grace Cottage Director, said, “We give so much away because people donate things here. This enables us to distribute items to women in need even if they don't want to live here.” The property has been leased to Grace Cottage by a very generous donor for eight years but for personal reasons the owner must sell. This fact has been made public and many churches, organizations and individuals have donated $78,000 with pledges amounting to $7,600 to help Grace Cottage purchase the property. An additional $25,000 is needed. The Grace Cottage board and staff wish to thank everyone who has heard their plea and have donated to the cause. For more information or to make a donation contact Putman or Chastina Cripe at 918-649-3737. |
