Hundreds of students from Hodgen, Shady Point, Fanshawe, Monroe and Wister visited Pansy Kidd Middle School on Wednesday for the annual Career Day sponsored by the Poteau Chamber of Commerce. The students were provided with information and demonstrations from various professions ranging from interior design, to law enforcement to communications to dog training and many more. Approximately 50 businesses and/or agencies participated in Career Day, an event designed to help students consider career possibilities in relation their own personal interests, talents, aptitudes and financial goals. The students were taken in groups to the practice gym at PKMS and were invited to ask questions and gather information concerning any of the sponsored career opportunities. Many of the students were interested in watching LeFlore County Deputy Jerimy Emmert work with Prisca, his K-9 officer and partner. Prisca is a dog specifically trained to located drugs and is used during traffic stops, Drug Task Force operations and during other drug related investigations. David Hogan of FWL Retrievers in Spiro and his dog Duke were also kept busy answering questions and demonstrating the talents of a hunting dog. Participating were the following.
