A three-month-old baby has died, the victim on child abuse. Parents of the child, Aaron Ray Wesley Hinson, 22, and Kayla Marie Furney, 20, were arrested May 9 at Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau.
According to LeFlore County Sheriff Bruce Curnutt, the baby, Aiden Furney, was brought to the EOMC Emergency Room at approximately 9 p.m. by the parents. LeFlore County Undersheriff Donnie Edwards and Deputy Randy Liles arrived at the hospital shortly after 9 p.m. and were informed by hospital staff that the baby had the imprint of a shoe on its chest and stomach, had blunt force trauma to the back of the head and had strangulation marks around his neck. Curnutt said the incident happened in a home located between Howe and Wister on 246th Avenue. The baby was transported via life flight helicopter to a Tulsa hospital shortly after the deputies arrived. The couple was arrested and booked on child abuse charges. Curnutt was informed that the baby died Monday at 9:03 a.m. Hinson's charges were modified to murder and the mother, Furney, is being charged with permitting child abuse. Hinson and Furney remain in the custody of the LeFlore County Detention Center pending court appearances. |
