Claiming the first place trophy from the Poteau Fire Department are Joe Wiles, Ryan Rollison, Jake Thompson, Jay Sommers, Don Goforth and Jamie Johnson.
LeFlore County Firefighters Association, Inc. held their Fifth Annual Firefighters Competition on May 16 at the Garrett Station in downtown Poteau. Six fire departments from across the county sent a team of six firefighters who competed in six events to see who could claim the title of 2009 Champions. Departments competing included Heavener, Murray Spur, Panama, Pocola, Poteau and Wister. LCFA President, Amy Howard of Post Mountain Fire Department was very pleased with the turnout in the rain as well as the firefighters who displayed their training and skills to participate in this annual event. There is a great deal of pride in the firefighting community and it was very well displayed on this date with some great sportsmanship displayed as well as the brotherhood of the fire service. Poteau Fire Department was the overall 2009 Champion. Second place went Pocola, third place to Heavener, fourth place to Murray Spur, fifth to Wister and sixth was Panama. Special thanks to Poteau Fire Department for hosting the competition and to Evan Gallant, Captain with the Fort Smith Fire Department and Tony Rust of the Oklahoma Fire Marshalls Office, who served as judges for the competition. |
