Summer officially began May 23 when the Poteau City Pool at Twyman Park opened for the 2009 season. This young swimmer tries to outrun her dad while he tries to put on a floating device for her safety. The pool will be open daily until the Sunday before school starts again in August. Pool hours are noon until 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday with the exception of Wednesday when the pool closes at 5 p.m. Sunday hours are from 1 until 5 p.m. The City of Poteau is hiring Red Cross certified lifeguards for the season. Anyone with Red Cross lifeguard certification and up-to-date CPR certification may call Dee Wise at 918-647-4491.
