Friends and family of Neil Brannon gathered at the Days Inn Grand Room as the state representative announced his candidacy for state senate.
Brannon, a former school administrator and a resident of Arkoma, has been a member of the House of Representatives for the past eight years. Brannon chose to make the move after Senator Kenneth Corn decided to run for Lt. Governor in the next election. During the announcement Brannon spoke about education and the need to pay more attention to the students of Oklahoma. He also stressed the importance of alternate energy sources such as natural gas to fuel cars and hybrid vehicles. He also discussed wind power as another energy source and introducing tax breaks to ease the costs of the “green” improvements. Healthcare is another of Brannon's concerns. "We have to make improvements to the healthcare system without breaking the Oklahoma budget," Brannon said. |
