By Jenny Huggins News Reporter Friday morning at Tiger Truck was spent loading 50 vehicles onto semi-trucks for the US Air Force that are destined for Europe. Tiger Truck began shipping the trucks to fill the largest Air Force contract for vehicles this type. The contract is for 883 trucks and utility vans that are assembled in Poteau and will take 120 days to complete.
Another load of the trucks will be sent to Europe next week with most of the remainder going to various military bases in the United States. Once the contract is filled Chief Operations Officer for Tiger Truck, Mike Felder, stated that the company will begin bidding on other projects. According to the company Web site, www.tigertruck.com, Tiger Truck has been delivering a series of light utility trucks and vans for off-road use since 1999. All Tiger vehicles meet the stringent CARB/EPA standards and are available powered by a variety of fuels, electric motor or Hybrid combinations and include standard shift or automatic transmissions. "This contract has been years in the making," Felder stated. Poteau Mayor Jeff Shockley stated, "This town is lucky to have Tiger Truck and its growing business." |
