(Note: The following information was obtained from public records filed at the LeFlore County Court Clerk's Office.) Poteau Police Officer Kurt Morsund was dispatched to South Harper on April 18 in reference to a report involving assault on a minor child. According to the report Morsund spoke with Angela Garay-Trejo who alleged her live-in boyfriend, Humberto Lopez, had hit her eight-year-old son.
She explained that she had gone into the house leaving her son and another child outside with Lopez. She stated in the report that when she returned her son was crying and told her that Lopez had hit him in the forehead and had poked him in the eye. The other child had seen the alleged incident. She alleged that Lopez was intoxicated and when she confronted him about the incident he left on a bicycle. The report states that Morsund was advised that Poteau Police Officer James Sprabery had arrested Lopez for public intoxication after the man had wrecked the bicycle. Morsund interviewed both children who said Lopez had assaulted the little boy. Lopez has been charged with assault and battery on a minor child, his second or subsequent offence. A warrant for his arrest remains outstanding. |
