Independence Day is Saturday, yet some business and offices are recognizing the holiday on Friday. Most city and county offices will be closed on Friday including Poteau City Hall, the LeFlore County Courthouse, Mainstreet Matters, LeFlore County Health Department and the Department of Human Services along with the Poteau Daily News. Each of the banks in town will be open for business using regular business hours on Friday but will be closed on Saturday. The Poteau Post Office will observe special holiday hours, as well.
The Poteau Post Office will close at noon today. However, full delivery services and mail collections will be provided. For customers requiring full Post Office services, the nearby Panama Post Office at 901 N. Kentucky will be openfrom 8:30 until 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 until 4 p.m. All area Post Offices will be closed July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. There will be no mail collections and only Express Mail deliveries in major urban cities will be provided on the July 4 holiday. Regular Post Office retail hours and full delivery operations will resume on Monday. Several other area businesses in the area may also recognize the holiday on Friday. So, when planning your July 4 celebration keep in mind your favorite store may not be open or be operating with limited hours. |
