Several Poteau Firefighters responded to a call to assist the Hogeye Fire Department with a pasture fire Wednesday afternoon. The fire broke out alongside of Old Cameron Highway near Cameron. Firefighter Deena Crandell from the Hogeye Fire Department was the first to respond on the scene followed shortly by Jon Pickel of the Poteau department and other Poteau firefighters. Pickel quickly began extinguishing the grass fire to prevent the flames from spreading.
