(AP) — Some positions will be eliminated, the hours of the Oklahoma History Center will be trimmed and funding to several museums will be eliminated or reduced to offset cuts to the Oklahoma Historical Society's fiscal 2010 budget.
The proposal, unanimously approved Wednesday by the Oklahoma Historical Society Board of Directors, calls for eliminating several full-time and part-time positions and reducing contract employee positions like maintenance and security.
The plan also recommends eliminating operating funding for the Healdton Oil Museum in Healdton and the Peter Conser Home in Heavener and reducing funding for nine other sites. The museums are expected to remain open, but there may be a change in hours of operation.
