A group of women at a Poteau church are out to prove that not all news is bad news. With so much crime and destruction in the world everyone needs to celebrate the fact that there are still good people in the world like the ladies of the Promise Seekers Women's Ministry. This Christian women's group provides home cooked meals for LeFlore County residents.
A sister of the ministry stated, “Not everyone that comes by is particularly in need of food. People have other needs to be met like fellowship. We have regulars that come just to get out of the house and visit with people.” The mission is funded entirely by individual donations of time and money. “This is a work of God. He put it in our hearts and here it is,” stated the sister. The program is held every Tuesday evening from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. at the old commissioners building on McKenna Street in Poteau. Everyone is welcome to join to enjoy the fellowship and food. |
