If all goes on schedule dirt will be moving next week in the new Hill View Park Business Center for the Holiday Inn Express in Poteau.
An official groundbreaking ceremony took place Friday at the project site located across the highway from the Choctaw Travel Plaza on North Broadway.   Construction is scheduled to take approximately one year for the 89-room, four story hotel which will include an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor hot tub and conference rooms.

Larry Rose of Rose Properties and originally from the Talihina area is the developer and said he is excited to be bringing more business to his home county.    The new hotel by Leisure Hotels Management of Kansas City  will be built on 2.25 acres.  Central National Bank provided local financing for the $3.8 million construction cost.  The entire project is estimated at $6 million to $10 million.  The project will provide 40 to 50 jobs during construction phase and approximately 20 jobs upon completion.

The Poteau Chamber of Commerce and various business leaders and other citizens of the county attended the groundbreaking to show their support of the project.  Poteau Chamber of Commerce CEO stated, “We want to be able to wear out the gold shovels we use when new businesses come to Poteau."
