Six persons recovering following head-on |

Five persons in this Toyota pickup were injured when it was hit head-on by a Volkswagon south of Hodgen. The driver of the Volkswagon was also injured. By Laura Young Managing Editor Six persons are recovering after being involved in a two-vehicle, head-on collision on Aug. 4. According to the accident report filed by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Shauna Caldwell, the accident occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m., one mile south of Hodgen on U.S. 59.
The report states that Marcella Rogers, 38, of Fort Smith, Ark., was driving southbound in a 2006 Volkswagen, went left of center and struck the 2007 Toyota pickup driven by David Mills, 45, of Tyler, Texas. The pickup was pulling a camper trailer. Rogers was transported to St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith by LeFlore County Emergency Medical Services. She sustained head, arm and leg injuries. Mills was transported to St. Edward Mercy Medical Center by LCEMS and was released after being treated for an arm injury. A passenger in the Toyota, Angela Ichimura, 45, of Tyler, was transported to St. Edward Mercy Medical Center by LCEMS suffering from leg and head injuries. A second passenger in the Toyota, Devin Ichimura, 18, of Tyler was transported by LCEMS to St. Edward Mercy Medical Center with head injuries. A third passenger in the Toyota, Aaron Mills, 6, of Tyler, was transported by LCEMS to St. Edward Mercy Medical Center where he was treated for head and trunk external injuries and released. A fourth passenger in the Toyota, Dane Ichimura, 16, of Tyler, was transported to St. Edward Mercy Medical Center by LCEMS where he was treated and released with head and trunk external injuries. Seat belts were in use and the airbags deployed. |
