U.S. Congressman Dan Boren announced the addition of three public town halls to an already busy district work period schedule which also includes meetings with civic clubs, an economic development forum, a panel on Oklahoma's transportation infrastructure needs, multiple constituent office appointments, as well as a previously announced telephone town hall series. In order to broaden the discussion on health care reform and to gather input from constituents across the Second District, Boren will be hosting these town halls in three separate regions of eastern Oklahoma on Aug. 18, 2009.
The meetings will be held in McAlester, Muskogee, and Pryor. "Town hall meetings are great opportunities for constituents in the Second District to come together as a community and share their thoughts and concerns,” Boren said. “I hope this event is well attended as communication is a key part of representing eastern Oklahoma. The dialogue expressed during town hall meetings greatly assists me,” Boren said. Congressman Boren will be in McAlester from 8 until 10 a.m. at S. Arch Thompson Auditorium, 221 E. Adams Avenue. He will then travel to Muskogee for a Town Hall meeting to be held from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Muskogee Civic Center, 425 Boston Street. The final stop of the day will be in Pryor from 3 until 5 p.m. at the Pryor MidAmerica Expo Center, U.S. 69 South and Airport Road. The public is encouraged to attend the meetings.
