The results of the Phil Gardenhire Rodeo are in. Many local and out of town cowboys came to compete in the competition. Some were from as far away as Wyoming and Louisiana. Many of the cowboys went home happy with money in their pockets and buckles on their belts. Many others, however, were awarded with knowing they took part in the annual event which memorializes one of rodeo's best, Phil Gardenhire. Bill Warner took first in the Tie Down Roping competition, Blake Deckard came in second, Ken Bailey in third and Chris Neal and Tom Merritt in fourth. In Team Roping, Caleb Mitchell and Tom Zuniga won first, Charles Pogue and Jett Hillman took second with Jake Weddle, Shawn Harris, Brandon Farris and Wayne Carter tying for third. Bull Riding was exciting with relatively few injuries. Clint Craig took first in that competition, also winning Friday's performance day money. There were no qualified rides for Saturday's money. Heith DeMoss took first in the Saddle Bronc Riding portion of the competition with his brother Cody coming in second. Travis Sturdy was third and Bobby Griswold came in fourth. Steer Wrestling had great participants with Jason Thomas coming in first, Dustin Merrit in second, Tanner Houston in third and Cash Myers in fourth. Bareback Bronc Riding had Jered Keylon as its first place winner with J.T. Taylor coming in second. Steer Roping first-go winner was Cash Myers, second place Bryce Davis, third was a tie between Marty Jones and Paul Williams. Second-go first place winner was Rocky Patterson, second place was Jason Stockton with Casey Pearson and Cash Myers coming in third. Third-go winners were Lawson Plemmons in first, Chet Herrin in second, Rocky Patterson in third and Buster Record Jr. in fourth. The overall winners were Cash Myers in first, Paul Williams in second, Paul Patton in third and Rod Hartness in fourth. This was the tenth annual Phil Gardenhire PRCA Rodeo held in Poteau and produced by David Bailey Rodeo Company in conjunction with the Poteau Chamber of Commerce and the Poteau Round Up Club. |
