Last week I promised to let everyone know what theme we'd be working on for the Poteau High School show choir.
It turns out, we'll be doing a medley of songs from the famous Broadway musical, "Jekyll and Hyde." I was a part of a similar medley in the Good Times Community Theatre's production of "Broadway...Our Way" a few years ago. It's really exciting to be performing it again. There are some big changes, and it has a totally different sound since it's a different group of people. After a lot of work, I think we'll have put together a show we can be proud of. Speaking of pride, I want to take a little moment to talk about what a great school we have here in Poteau. Sure, some people may not agree, but I think we have a lot to be proud of. There are a lot of oppurtunities available to students who are willing to work for it. The school offers a lot of clubs, activities, and teams to appeal to as many people as they can. When I first moved here, I was expecting to be miserable attending a smaller school, but now there's no way I'd want to go back to big city. I love it here! One thing our school and our students can be especially proud of, is the amount of school spirit we have. The whole town of Poteau gets involved on game day, and there's just an air of excitement that you can feel. The first football game is coming up this Friday, and everyone is getting pumped up. The team is practicing hard, and the rest of the cheerleaders and I have been getting everything ready. We are performing at the downtown pep rally that will be held on Thursday, and at the pep rally on Friday at school. I think it's really great that Poteau has so many fans of all ages, and not just high school students. It's definitely another reason to be proud of our school, and our town. I know that game day will be as great as everyone expects! It's our very last year to play our rivals, the Spiro Bulldogs, and they're going down! Come out and support us this Friday at the stadium. Hope to see you all there! Later, Laura Ann Something to Ponder: If it is zero degrees outside today and it is supposed to be twice as cold tomorrow, how cold is it going to be? |
