Spooky Balloonfest begins Friday
Monday, 26 October 2009
By Laura Young
Managing Editor

By this time next week the skies above Poteau will be heavy with hot air. Hot air balloons, that is. Friday is the opening day for the Poteau Spooky Balloonfest at the Robert. S. Kerr Airport in Poteau. Organizers have been working since last year's event on making this year's event even better.
There will be something for everyone of any age to do and enjoy. Fun Times Carnivals is bringing 14 rides to be enjoyed and is offering Arm Band night on Friday. Fifteen dollars per person will get that person on as many rides as many times as he or she wants from the time the gates open at 4 p.m. until closing at 10 p.m.
Vendors of all kinds will be set up selling their wares to festival participants.
Local bands will entertain, cheerleaders will perform, there will be contests and pageants, helicopter and stage coach rides and tethered balloon rides.
All of this, plus mud races showcasing The Mean Machine Monster Ride Truck and a Haunted House (see related story).
