Tax Rolls were certified and delivered by the County Assessor to the County Treasurer on Nov. 3. following the end of the 15-day protest period on millage factors on the budgets that were filed at the state capitol.
The County Treasurer will have an approximate two-week period of transferring data from the previous years tax rolls to current tax rolls. The County Treasurer will allow until Jan. 1, 2010, for payment without penalty after the statements are mailed. Statements should be mailed by Nov. 15, 2009. At that time taxpayers may view and pay taxes on line at www.okcountytreasurers.com and select LeFlore County.
If taxpayers have not received their statements by the end of November the County Treasurer suggests citizens contact his office and/or the County Assessor to ensure that the current address is on file. The County Treasurer and County Assessor offices are located at the LeFlore County Courthouse.. Many post offices will not deliver mail without the current address and many people still have not reported their change of address.
The millage factors certified for the 2009 year by the County Clerk from the various budgets for the 21 school districts and other towns and entities throughout the county reflect that there are eight school districts with an increase for the 2009 tax year. All other districts with bonds decreased the year due to bonds being paid down. The rates for 2008 and 2009 are on page 2.
