W.C. Kitchens, 78, of Leflore, passed away Feb. 5, 2010, in Leflore. He was born Nov. 17, 1931, in Leflore. He was retired from the military and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army serving in both Korea and Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Pete and Ellen Elizabeth (Ferguson) Kitchens, three sisters and four brothers. He is survived by a step-daughter, Patty Scott of Bentonville, Ark.; a granddaughter, Alexis; a brother, James Marion Kitchens of Rushford, Minn.; three nieces, Marjorie Powers-Shoup of Cameron, Mary Chronister of Poteau and Wanda Roden of Wister; four nephews, Tony Matney of Leflore, Michael Morrow of Houston, Texas, James M. Kitchens of Rushford, Minn., and Joe Powers of Wister; and numerous other relatives, friends and loved ones. A memorial service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Leflore Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy D. Cook and Jeff Little officiating. Interment will be in Leflore Cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
