Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday for the Annual School Election. There will be seven races in six of the 17 school districts in the county. Two seats will be filled in the Pocola district. Running for Office 5 are Alan Alexander and Jeff Carter. Running for Office 3 (unexpired term) is Donna Didier and Michael Severe.
In Whitesboro, Doug Camp and B.J. Barron filed for Office 5. Larry McCormick and Dustin Mankin are on the ballot for Office 5 in the Cameron district. On the Panama ballot for Office 5 are Richard K. Townsend and Tommy Caldwell. Howe voters will chose between David S. Landeros and Elvis L. Hall. There is a three-way race in the Fanshawe district for Office 3. Kevin Wiley, Lee Shipman and Eric Gunlock are on the ballot. One of the three must win by a 50 percent plus one vote margin in order to be declared the winner. If neither of the three garners enough votes to win, the top two will be placed on the ballot for an April Runoff. Voters are reminded to take their voter identification cards with them to the polls. "Your voter identification card can help precinct officials find your name in the Precinct Registry and it may also help them resolve the problem if you are not listed in the Precinct Registry," stated Phillip Zearley, Secretary of the LeFlore County Election Board. Voters whose names are not found in the Precinct Registry, or a voter who disagrees with the information shown in the registry, may need to cast a provisional ballot which is sealed in a special envelope and counted after election day if the voter's information can be verified by the county election board. "Anyone who is eligible and in line at the polling place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday will be entitled to vote," he added. |
