PFC Christopher L. Kingery. 23, of Shady Point, will get to come home for a much needed vacation. Kingrey has been stationed in Irag for his tour of duty. His mother, Kathy, who lives in Sallisaw along with his bother, Kevin Fisher from Poteau, and sister Crystal Robbins of Fort Smith, Ark., will be glad to see their son and brother. Kingrey will arrive in town on Oct. 13 and will get to stay for about two weeks before returning to Iraq to finish his tour.

When the leaves begin to fall, the United Methodist Women's Fall Festival bake sale and luncheon is right around the corner. This year it will be Friday, Nov. 2 at the church's Christian Family Life Center on the corner of Rogers and South Harper, Poteau.  This is a highly anticipated event for the community each year.The bake sale begins at 9 a.m. The luncheon is served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12. Carry-outs are available. The always popular menu is Chicken and Dressing Casserole, Cranberry Salad, Green Beans, Tossed Salad, Rolls, Pumpkin Upside Down Pie or Assorted Cakes, Coffee or Tea. The women invite you to purchase a ticket in advance from a United Methodist woman or at the door and enjoy an early taste of Thanksgiving flavors for lunch on Friday.All proceeds benefit local and global missions.
